Great antique/vintage finely woven yellow straw widebrim hat from the Victorian era, dating to the 1890s or so. Flexible straw was tightly woven and applied in overlapping strips, so the crown is flexible in height and the brim thick. Around the crown is a dark brown coiled cording ribbon with multiple "tails" at the back. Interior lined in soft white polished cotton, has a woven silk label reading Mandel Brothers Chicago. Condition is good, hat is displayable and could be worn after some minor repairs. There are two noticeable gaps in the straw at the edge-front and back that could be repaired with thread. There are also some tiny minor breaks here and there that have to be searched for. The lining is discolored from age and being worn.
